“Iran and Iraq Forge Stronger Alliance in the Fight Against Terrorism”

Iran and Iraq military officials have engaged in discussions regarding mutual cooperation in the areas of counter-terrorism and security, as reported by Tasnim. Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s armed forces, held talks with Lieutenant General Abdul Amir Rashid Yarallah, his Iraqi counterpart.

During the meeting, Major General Bagheri expressed gratitude to General Ghasem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis for their crucial roles in combating ISIS in both Iran and Iraq. He also emphasized the potential for exchanging experiences in the fight against terrorism between the two neighboring countries, emphasizing the need for joint efforts in securing the region and preserving national sovereignty.

In response, Lieutenant General Yarallah commended Iran for its support in combating extremist terrorist groups, especially through collaboration with the Iraqi security forces. Major General Bagheri further emphasized Iran’s armed forces’ readiness to expand cooperation in military, security, and educational domains for the purpose of strengthening the partnership between Iran and Iraq.
