Former MP Arayik Harutyunyan’s Family-Owned Company Faces Legal Disputes with Regulatory Committee, Attempts to Invalidate Agreement
According to the newspaper “Zhoghovurd”, “Lavanda-norfarm” CJSC, owned by the family of former MP Arayik Harutyunyan, is currently engaged in legal disputes with the Public Services Regulatory Committee. The company is seeking to invalidate an agreement dated October 4, 2023. Reports indicate that the committee has audited the company, previously monopolized by the former official, and despite the audit findings, legal actions are being pursued.
Another significant development has emerged involving Arayik Harutyunyan. On November 23 of this year, it was announced that an economic tycoon and real estate owner, acting on behalf of N.A., carried out construction and renovation work on the premises of the “Premium House” residential complex located in Yerevan. Instead of paying the appropriate taxes, the individual manipulated calculations, concealed data, and avoided the obligation to demolish buildings. Through agreements on residential complex renovations, this person managed to evade paying approximately 500 million AMD in taxes.
As a result of extensive financial and investigative operations, A.H. and N.A. have been charged and imprisoned based on conclusive evidence. The investigation into the manipulation of financial data has uncovered significant discrepancies, leading to additional tax revenue of around 500 million AMD for the state budget. Additionally, the state treasury will be reimbursed approximately 250 million AMD. The investigation is still ongoing.
It is important to highlight that the “Premium House” construction company is owned by Lavanda Harutyunyan, a prominent businessman also known as Arayik Harutyunyan. Previously a member of the OEC, he has now been strategically positioned within the “heart of power” of the ruling party, behind the QP’s headquarters. His current circumstances seem to have changed.
