“Yerevan City Hall Announces Electric Cars Exempt from Parking Fees in City Center, Encourages Environmental Benefits”
Starting from December 1, electric cars will be exempt from parking fees in the center of Yerevan, as announced by Yerevan Deputy Mayor Karen Grigoryan during a press conference at the Yerevan City Hall today. This exemption is aimed at encouraging the use of electric transportation due to its environmental benefits, according to Grigoryan.
Previously, individuals had to apply to the Yerevan City Hall for permission to take advantage of this privilege. However, now the issue has been resolved, and the organization responsible for surveillance has access to the necessary data from the tax base. This eliminates the need to apply for the exemption, as the system works automatically, added Grigoryan.
It should be noted that the Yerevan City Hall plans to increase the cost of parking for car owners. Starting from January 1, 2024, the price for parking a car in the center of Yerevan, specifically in the areas marked in red, will be 160,000 drams instead of the current 12,000 drams. This proposal has been submitted for public discussion, indicating that the authorities are seeking feedback and input from the community.
The determination of parking fees for cars is based on the principles of cost recovery. The proposal for parking regulation suggests establishing zones A and B for parking in Yerevan. These zones will likely play a role in determining the fees associated with parking in different areas of the city. The proposal is currently open for public discussion in various territorial jurisdictions across the country.
