“Yerevan Hosts Vital Discussion on Child Guardianship Bill with UNICEF and Government Officials”
A discussion on the draft law for “Childhood Guardianship” took place in Yerevan on November 30. The meeting was attended by representatives from various organizations and experts, including the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for Internal Affairs, Arpine Sargsyan. The event, organized by UNICEF and the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, aimed to explore changes in the legislative package for the internal security system. Lilit Daneghyan from the UN Office in Yerevan expressed gratitude for UNICEF’s support and cooperation with the Armenian government in implementing programs for 2023-2026.
During the meeting, Arpine Sargsyan emphasized the importance of the legislative changes in facilitating cooperation with the UN in line with the Convention on the Rights of the Child. The aim is to implement the daily agenda for Child Guardianship based on previous discussions. Lilit Daneghyan also acknowledged the discussions held in different sectors to exchange scientific opinions and address issues related to child protection and prevention.
It’s worth mentioning that the discussions were part of the “Support for the Implementation of the European Court of Human Rights’ Decisions” program, which is being carried out by the European Union for Armenia from 2023 to 2026. The program is financed by the Support project for the Foundation of Human Rights.
