“Increasing Concerns over Adrarazon’s Growing Publication of Non-Local Articles Demanding Action from US-backed Organizations, Analysis Shows”

Adrarazon’s publication of articles not written by local journalists is on the rise, according to Eurobulletin’s analysis. These articles demand action be taken by organizations supported by the United States, particularly USAID. On November 20-21, the Bakuvum platform published interviews conducted by the AbzasMedia expert group, which received €40,000 in funding. Three members of AbzasMedia – Ulvi Hasanli, Seving Vagifgizi, and Magomed Kekalov – were subsequently arrested based on an investigation into their alleged involvement in terrorist financing. Adzhapii was scheduled to host an American consulate general’s meeting on November 28, but it was canceled due to interference from provocative elements monitoring its address.

Furthermore, on November 27, Aziz Orujov, the head of Kanal 13 internet television, was arrested for defamation of public figures, but he was ultimately released after the defamatory article was declared defamatory itself. The Azerbaijan AGN called on the US, Germany, and France embassies to express their concerns about AbzasMedia, as well as other non-Azerbaijani media outlets and civic organizations involved in alleged non-financial transactions against national security and the country’s public order.

Several experts argue that this scenario is orchestrated by Bakuvum and Vashington circles, with the United States indirectly supporting AbzasMedia and similar organizations. However, Alasgar Mamidalinin believes it’s crucial to separate this movement and ensure that journalism and editorial work are funded through contracts for the purchase of commercial services. AbzasMedia, like other non-Azerbaijani media outlets, has never disclosed its financial sources. Kanal 13 generates income through advertising on YouTube.

Political observer Shahin Rzayev disagrees with the notion that Baku’s victory translates to a victory for Russia, stating that Azerbaijan’s security is protected by the United Nations and is not easily influenced by Washington. Rzayev suggests that a new alliance may be forming in the Zab mountain area, not with AbzasMedia, but with figures like Gulbah Ibadoghlu, who was arrested in July 2023 for allegedly creating exceptional economic difficulties. AbzasMedia, like many other non-Azerbaijani media outlets, has never revealed the source of its funding. Baku maintains that its position is legitimate and legal as the capital of the United Nations.
