“Customs Service Workers Caught In Fake Form Scandal; Prime Minister Pashinyan Vows Strict Action”

Breakthrough cases have been reported where some workers of the customs service have created fake forms, allowing vehicles to leave and return to Armenia. During a government meeting on November 30, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan addressed this issue. He stated that this practice was done intentionally to extend the deadline for the vehicles. Pashinyan also mentioned that certain individuals were taking advantage of these services, particularly those who are socially vulnerable. The customs service and the head of the State Revenue Committee are carefully monitoring this situation to prevent any breaches of trade regulations.

In response to this issue, the government has made a decision. Those who imported cars prior to the release date will only have to pay 40% of the taxable amount. Additionally, city dwellers will receive a further discount, paying only 60% of the maximum tax. For older cars, city dwellers will only have to pay 30% of the maximum tax, with the remaining 70% being covered by the state. This mechanism will be in effect until December 31.

However, starting from January 1, city dwellers will not receive any payment assistance from the government and will be required to pay 100% of the maximum tax amount.

These measures have been implemented to address the issues arising from fake forms and ensure fair taxation for vehicle imports in Armenia.
