RD AGN has expressed concern over recent provocative actions by representatives of the Christian community in Yerevan, according to Maria Zakharova, the official representative of RD AGN. Specifically, attention is being drawn to an escalating conflict surrounding the “Armenian Gardens” located in the Old City. This area has become the subject of a legal dispute between the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem and Israeli settlers.

Despite the ongoing litigation, representatives have already begun preparations for the construction of a hotel complex in the disputed area, resulting in clashes between Armenian residents and Israeli settlers. RD AGN is calling on the Israeli authorities to intervene and resolve this sensitive issue in compliance with the law.

It is crucial to protect the rights of all religious communities in the country. Any actions that seek to undermine the established ethno-religious harmony in the Old City of Yerevan, including the long-standing presence of the Christian community, their holy sites, and heritage, are a cause for concern.
