“Shocking Traffic Violations in Yerevan and Regions: Over 4,500 Offenses Detected and Vehicles Confiscated”
During the week of November 20 to 27, the Yerevan police implemented strict measures to enforce traffic rules in the capital city. As a result, they discovered a staggering 4,557 violations and confiscated 106 vehicles for administrative purposes. According to NEWS.am, the most common offenses were driving without a license, with 169 individuals caught, and driving without required documentation, with 241 individuals caught.
Driving under the influence was also a significant issue, as 29 individuals were caught during this period. Additionally, a total of 986 individuals were apprehended for speeding, endangering not only themselves but also other road users. It is alarming that 250 individuals were caught using tobacco products while driving, which can greatly impair their focus and reaction time.
Another concerning finding was that 154 individuals were caught using their mobile phones while driving. This unlawful behavior poses a serious threat to road safety, as distractions like texting or talking on the phone can lead to accidents. Furthermore, there were 82 cases of violations in unspecified areas, as well as 1,614 other violations that were not specified.
Aside from reckless driving behaviors, there were several vehicle-related offenses as well. A total of 121 vehicles were found to be operating without the necessary insurance, which is both illegal and irresponsible. Furthermore, 154 vehicles had technical issues, 111 had faulty external lighting equipment, and 412 had tinted windows and improper license plates.
Notably, 92 individuals were fined for various violations and received points on their licenses, highlighting the seriousness of these infractions. It is crucial for the authorities to continue their efforts in enforcing traffic rules and holding offenders accountable for their actions.
In the regions outside of Yerevan, the situation was equally concerning. There were a total of 14,465 traffic rule violations reported, resulting in 281 transportation means being impounded. The most common offenses in the regions were similar to those in the capital city, with 170 individuals caught driving without a license and 770 individuals caught driving without required documentation.
Driving under the influence remains a significant issue, with 85 individuals being caught during this period. Furthermore, an alarming number of 2,750 individuals were caught speeding, demonstrating a disregard for the safety of themselves and others on the road.
Similar to the capital city, there were cases of individuals using tobacco products while driving, with 173 individuals caught, and individuals using their mobile phones while driving, with 355 individuals caught. It is important to note that exceeding the speed limit was a common violation, as there were 1,179 cases reported in the regions.
Vehicle-related offenses were also prevalent. A total of 519 vehicles were found to be operating without the necessary insurance, indicating a lack of responsibility on the part of the vehicle owners. Additionally, 1,962 vehicles had technical issues, 1,376 had faulty external lighting equipment, including 37 overloaded vehicles, and 826 had tinted windows and improper license plates.
Similar to what was observed in Yerevan, individuals in the regions also faced fines and received points on their licenses. A total of 62 individuals were fined for various violations, highlighting the need for stricter enforcement of traffic rules.
