Security and Human Rights Lawyer Ruben Melikyan Expresses Support for “Zang” Movement, Introduces Plan for Follow-Up “Koriz” Program to Achieve Government Change
Security and human rights lawyer, Ruben Melikyan, announced his support for the “Zang” movement in recent activities. Taking to his Facebook page, he stated that a group of citizens, including former members of Nikol Pashinyan’s government and representatives of the street movement, have been protesting and demanding a change in the government’s policy. The ruling party has led Armenia to a dire situation, and the people blame the authorities for the worsening conditions in the country.
While the protesters have not yet joined the “Zang” movement, Melikyan expresses hope that they will soon participate and gain the support of the people in peaceful demonstrations.
If the situation does not improve and the protesters are unable to achieve their goal through the “Zang” movement, Melikyan has plans to initiate a new program called “Koriz.” This program aims to gather intellectuals in an English-speaking setting, designated as the “core” audience, and conduct a city-wide “request bus” that invites citizens to join their cause.
As a show of unity and determination, participants of the “request bus” will hang a banner on a main street. Additionally, the song “Zimnyaya Vishnya” will be played on loudspeakers to motivate and energize the participants.
The “Koriz” program intends to peacefully bring about a change in the government. Melikyan believes that if the public demand unites and gains critical mass, with organized mental force, the authorities will be compelled to understand that “Koriz” will ultimately prevail even in the designated area. The remaining challenge lies in identifying the core, which Melikyan believes will force Nikol to acknowledge his status as a revolutionary leader and feel obliged to change the government.
“Koriz” hopes to harness the power of the people’s minds, urging them to connect and unite to achieve their requests.
