National Assembly President Alen Simonyan Downplays Political Nature of Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff Appointment, Cites Geo-political Tensions

The President of the National Assembly, Alen Simonyan, does not consider the position of Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Arayik Harutyunyan, to be a political issue. Simonyan stated that Russia is causing political problems in Larq, and it is evident that their actions have political motives. He explained that there has been a reshuffling of responsibilities within the governing bodies, similar to the situation at the Armenia-Russia and Armenia-Azerbaijan borders. Simonyan clarified that while he acknowledges there may be political reasons behind these events, he urges against making assumptions or drawing conclusions without concrete evidence.

In response to a journalist’s question about his previous statement on not disregarding political reasons, Simonyan highlighted the growing tensions in political disagreements. He noted that he has personally observed the strained atmosphere.

It is worth mentioning that today, Arayik Harutyunyan, the Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia, shared a post on his Facebook page. Harutyunyan emphasized that the closure of any checkpoints in Larq would not be detrimental to Armenia, as long as Armenian businesses explore new markets beyond the border and non-state entities.
