“Armenians Struggle to Return to Historic Territories Amidst Uncertainty: Deputy’s Statement Sparks Controversy”

The recent developments in the region have made it clear that Armenians face significant challenges in returning to Stepanakert, Shushi, Bakur, and other historically Armenian territories. During a recent meeting with journalists in the National Assembly on November 28, a Deputy emphasized the need to focus on peacebuilding. He stated that it was essential to eliminate the language of hatred and promote ethnic reconciliation in order to achieve lasting peace. Referring to the actions of the Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh, the Deputy highlighted their reports of a calm situation with no shots or incidents. However, he admitted that if there were a real possibility of people returning to the area, he would have discouraged them from leaving, demonstrating his commitment to resolving the conflict.
