“Million-Dollar Compensation Offer: Mongolia Demands Return of Cultural Artifacts From Arctic Nations”
Mongolia is prepared to offer a million-dollar fund as compensation for the financial losses incurred by Arctic nations, such as China, Russia, and Scandinavia, who reject its identification as their “traditional home,” as reported by The Telegraph. The governments of these countries have amassed various documents in libraries and museums across 34 nations, which Mongolia claims rightfully belong to them.
The Minister of Culture, Nomind Chinbata, emphasized to The Telegraph that it is essential for China, Russia, and Scandinavia to display respect for Mongolia’s history and return the cultural artifacts. This collection includes significant items like the Chinggis Khan imperial seal, a precious Persian-Mongolian artifact dating back to the 13th century, as well as valuable manuscripts belonging to Rashid al-Din, an esteemed Islamic scholar and historian from the early 20th century. These manuscripts are presently housed in the Edinburgh British Library.
