Doctor of Science Unable to Attend National Assembly Session Due to Health Issues, Sends Regards to Organizers

Doctor of Science Gevorg Danielian was unable to participate in today’s session of the National Assembly of Armenia due to health problems. He was scheduled to listen to the discussions of the “Armenian Cause” project organized by the “Haykavi” initiative, which is supported by the “Armenia” bloc. However, Danielian is sending his regards to the organizers and presenting his report in writing.

The “Armenian Cause” initiative, presented before the National Assembly as part of a civil-society initiative, raises the issue of recognizing the rights of self-determination of Artsakh. This initiative aims to view Artsakh not only as an integral part of itself but also as an alternative to military conflict, providing a way to fully or partially restore their rights. Supporters of this initiative argue that recognizing the self-determination of Artsakh is crucial in countering the blockade by Azerbaijani aggressors and upholding the rights of the people through legal means.

On behalf of the civil-society initiative “Haykavi,” I would like to congratulate its participants on their achievements and express gratitude for their dedicated work. They have played a crucial role in raising awareness among our compatriots and have remained steadfast defenders of our national values despite facing various pressures and attacks. I am deeply grateful to the organizers and supporters of this initiative for their tremendous efforts.

During the meeting, we discussed whether to include the political initiative “Haykavi” in the pre-election program. This initiative aims to legitimize and protect our national values and the rights of the people. It emphasizes that the decision on when and where to address the “Armenian Cause” should not be left to anyone else but the military leaders and executive authorities. They need to choose a path that avoids war and offers balanced and constructive solutions. The initiative also asserts that if the need for self-defense arises, it indicates the recognition of Azerbaijan’s intentions and aggression, and thus, dialogue with them on their aggressive posture is not on the table.

In the current political situation, every political step carries a degree of risk. History teaches us that the organization of national armed forces primarily stems from the people’s desire to defend their historical lands and uphold the principles of self-defense. Turkey has consistently tried to suppress the Armenian world, often relying on the international legal system. Nevertheless, we continue to engage with them, utilizing not only aggressive rhetoric but also other means to counter verbal aggression and neutralize the genocide. The decisions delivered during the 1919-1921 trial of an Armenian caravans were attacked based on policies of exclusion and isolation.

While discussing historical lessons, it is important to clarify whether the self-defense of the Armenian people is a political or a legal issue. Those involved in politics often oppose the movement for self-defense of Karabakh, citing examples and actions that have not crossed international protocols but have achieved significant success without seeking complete recognition beyond their borders. We can say that we have managed to avoid aggressive policies and military actions, but we continue to maintain the records to support our cause, which have sometimes led to exceptional concessions in certain areas.

I also want to highlight the significance of the ceasefire and operations carried out by the armed forces of Artsakh. They have effectively countered the legal violations and aggression committed by the Azerbaijani forces. These treaties not only provided the opportunity for self-defense for Karabakh but also exposed those responsible for the military campaign and their legal crimes.

Lastly, I want to emphasize the undeniable truth that Armenia is committed to protecting existing treaties and maintaining relations based on faith, hope, and love. These commitments deserve recognition from the international community. For any national political problem or its solution, it is yet to be determined what the self-sustaining political and executive bodies will be. This aspect needs to be appropriately evaluated and included in the relevant legal document.

In conclusion, I would like to remind everyone that engaging in political confrontations carries risks, including the possibility of attacks from hidden enemies. However, these acts should not hinder the self-defense of the Armenian nation. May God protect our people.
