“President and Prime Minister raise possibility of early parliamentary elections: What’s the future for Armenia’s political landscape?”
There have been active discussions in political circles about the possibility of holding early parliamentary elections in local elections, according to “Publication” newspaper. The topic was raised by the President, who informed us that the Prime Minister, Nikol Pashinyan, recently made a statement during a government session expressing his willingness to step down on the condition that new elections are held and he is re-elected as Prime Minister. There is speculation in political circles that Pashinyan may take this step and go to the elections within a year, using administrative resources to ensure his re-election with more confidence. One of the reasons for this is the unstable political field and the lack of a possibility for gaining a new reliable majority.
