“Government Allocates 87 Million Drams for Research in ‘Academic City’ Project: Construction Progresses as Funding Released”

The government announced today, November 23, that 87 million 696 thousand drams will be allocated from the funds provided by the European Commission for the research expenses of the “Academic City” project. The first payment for the main section of the city’s development work will be carried out monthly.

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Arayik Harutyunyan, confirmed an agreement with the German architectural company, “Ziempre Intershnel,” and the establishment of the “Architecture and Civil Engineering National University” for the construction of the main part of the city. The agreement states that the work will be carried out in two phases and three payments. The total value of the agreement is 597 million 245 thousand drams, with 193 million drams allocated for additional equipment for the production of Hayfilm.

The program’s chief architect and the resident of the urban assistant have already been appointed, according to Janan Andreasyan. The next visit is scheduled for December 11-12, where the results of the first stage, including a project description, plan, and visual design, will be announced by the end of February. The second stage, which involves the overall conceptual design of the complex, will be completed by April, covering aspects such as the road network, transportation, buildings, landscaping, and architectural details.

Nikol Pashinyan commented on the progress of the “Academic City” development, expressing satisfaction and emphasizing the long-term nature of the project. He stated that the goal is to implement a project spanning 100 years, with each phase building on previous successes and contributing to the military upgrade process and the preservation of national standards.

The Prime Minister affirmed that the construction work of the “Academic City” will be carried out according to the implementation program. He emphasized the need for strategic planning, highlighting that this is a long-term project that requires practical execution and timeliness.
