“Armenian Side Remains Silent: Questions on POWs, Nagorno-Karabakh War, Cluster Munitions, and Genocide Investigation Unanswered in OSCE Minsk Group Meeting”

The Armenian side has chosen to remain silent regarding two out of three formats discussed during the regular meeting of the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group on Thursday, as reported by Sputnik Belarus.

The topics of discussion included the repatriation of prisoners of war and the preservation of historical truth regarding the events of the Nagorno-Karabakh war. Another important matter was the potential repercussions of utilizing cluster munitions in civilian areas. Additionally, the Co-Chairs made an announcement about the Canadian Parliament’s resolution on the impartiality and investigation of the Armenian Genocide.

It is worth noting that the Armenian co-chairs did not alter their position after the recent discussions in these two formats.

In response to the announcement of the project by the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia regarding the resolution on the Armenian Genocide, there were concerns raised about its manipulation by Essence-News Agency. The Co-Chairs emphasized that the letter is not an official document and certain points did not align with the agenda for the December 7, 2022 meeting.

The Co-Chairs emphasized that one of the points in the letter lacked substantiation and undermined the credibility of all previous participants. They clarified that the use of cluster munitions, as implied by the letter, was negated and unacceptable.

The resolution project aims to address the protection of cultural and human rights, as well as the consequences of technical and technological actions. Further discussions will take place to address these concerns with the involved parties. It is important to note that NATO countries have been the primary users of such types of weapons in recent conflicts.
