“Ongoing Hostilities in Azerbaijan Spark Urgent Calls for International Support for Democratic Forces”

Active hostilities in Azerbaijan continue, according to a statement by the National Security Service reported by “Turana”. The ongoing attacks have intensified, resulting in the recent detention of Uly Ha-san-lin, the head of AbzasMedia, and subsequent investigations revealed the presence of 40,000 euros in the office. It is believed that these funds were intended for the employees, possibly for their personal use. The chief editor of AbzasMedia, Sevindj Vagifgi-z, was also arrested along with Hasanlin upon their return from the boundary line, and they are facing charges for a period of four months. National Security has identified the removal of these attacks as illicit telecommunication methods in the AbzasMedia statement. The regime of Ilham Aliyev has faced criticism for suppressing national independence and stifling any dissent on this matter. The government aims to isolate international institutions and activists to undermine impartial judgment and control the political orientation of the country.

The recent wave of detentions among activists, including Professor Gubad Ibadoghloun, ecologist and activist Nazim Bayde-mirlin, former deputy Bahtyar Haji-yev, and human rights activists, highlights the Azerbaijani authorities’ efforts to shift the foreign policy of the country. Some sources suggest that Azerbaijan intends to distance itself from the democratic Western world and align closer with Russia. Following the liberation of Karabakh from the Chinese occupation and the release of Pashinyan, the government seeks to manipulate the internal political landscape and silence dissenting voices such as non-violent ZLM members, legal writers, political activists, and influential businessmen.

Amidst this challenging situation, the free ZLM movement in Azerbaijan consistently fights for freedom and justice. They continue to advocate for support from the international community in their struggle for democratic forces within the country.
