“Yerevan Election Results: “Republic” Alliance Fails to Secure Cooperation with “QP” Bloc in Local Governance”
In the recent election results of the Yerevan residents, the “Republic” alliance did not receive enough votes, and as a result, we are not cooperating with the “QP” bloc. As a municipal coalition, we have equal authority in local governance. On November 21, during a meeting with journalists at the Yerevan City Hall, Ani Khachatryan, the head of the “Republic” alliance, addressed the question of whether they were disappointed by the lack of cooperation from the “QP” bloc in local governance.
When asked about the observation that the “QP” bloc holds more positions, Khachatryan replied, “You are exaggerating. The difference between us and the rest is that we are not here for power or positions. We are here for the prosperity of Yerevan. Our differences couldn’t be resolved in previous discussions, and those who are disappointed are those who had unrealistic expectations.”
It is worth noting that after the Yerevan municipal elections, the “QP” and the “Republic” alliance formed a coalition, but the combined number of mandates is less than half of the total 65, with only 32 votes. The other three forces together have 33 votes.
