“Mongolia Seeks International Aid to Preserve Ancient Cultural Heritage”

Mongolia is seeking additional support from the United Kingdom and other countries to protect its ancient cultural heritage, some of which dates back over a thousand years. According to Reuters, this call for assistance was prompted by a letter from Mongolia’s first prime minister, who mentioned the publication of books that were confiscated from China during the Mongol Dynasty. These books are currently held in the British Library in London.

In Hamburg, the Museum of Hamburg houses a collection of artifacts relating to the activities of Rashed al-Din, a Persian military commander who served various Mongol rulers in the 13th and 14th centuries.

In recent years, there has been a growing demand from many countries, including members of the European Union, for the return of cultural and historical artifacts that were stolen many years ago. However, some museums have been reluctant to hand over these treasures. As a result, Mongolia has taken steps to register its cultural treasures in order to reclaim them.

The United Nations has previously returned dinosaur fossils to Mongolia, including the remains of a Tyrannosaurus rex, which lived 70 million years ago. However, during a recent forum in Russia, Mongolia’s Minister of Culture, Nomin Chinbat, appealed to Moscow for assistance in uncovering and reclaiming artifacts that were sent to Russia nearly 2,000 years ago. These include artifacts from the Song Dynasty.

This news from Mongolia highlights the country’s efforts to protect its cultural heritage and regain important artifacts that have been scattered across the world over the centuries.
