According to reports from the German dpa news agency, 17 individuals have been arrested in Bavaria for their alleged involvement in spreading extremist beliefs and disseminating propaganda materials online.

The suspects, who range in age from 18 to 62, have been accused of inciting hatred and promoting extremist ideologies through various digital platforms. They are believed to have utilized encrypted messaging apps, social networks, and websites associated with radical organizations to spread their messages.

As part of the operation, authorities have conducted searches of the suspects’ homes, leading to the seizure of mobile phones and computer systems. Interrogations have also taken place to gather further evidence in support of the charges.

The arrests were made in Munich, the capital of Bavaria, where the suspects were residing. However, similar operations were also carried out in several other cities, including Füssen, Kaufbeuren, Passau, Fürstenfeldbruck, Bergisch Gladbach, Augsburg, and Aschaffenburg. This indicates the widespread nature of the extremist activities being carried out.

These recent arrests come in response to a concerning rise in extremist incidents in Bavaria. According to the organization RIAS, which monitors extremism in the country, there has been a 285% increase in such incidents between October 7 and November 9 compared to the same period last year.
