“Southern Korean Soldiers Halt Joint Excavation in DMZ, Raising Doubts on Inter-Korean Peace Agreement”

Southern Korean soldiers stationed in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) of the Korean Peninsula have reportedly suspended joint excavation work in the truce village of Panmunjom. This suggests that Seoul may postpone the inter-Korean peace agreement and revive the inspection of the inter-Korean project for its return. According to AP, this announcement comes after South Korean authorities revealed that the delay is due to North Korea receiving Russian technology, which could potentially allow Kim Jong-un to conduct a test in the near future.

South Korean UN Representative, Heather Nauert, has called on North Korea to complete the third excavation attempt responsibly.

During an interview with KBS, the national television corporation, Shin Won-sik, the head of South Korean security, stated that the excavation is expected to be postponed until the end of this month. Both South Korea and the US are closely monitoring North Korea’s actions.
