“Minister of Interior Expresses Concerns Over Investment Safety in Armenia: Foreigners Warned About Current State of Jermuk”

The Minister of Interior has expressed concerns over investments in the Republic of Armenia, specifically regarding the safety of foreigners in Jermuk. On November 20, Tadevos Avetisyan, a representative of the “Armenia” faction of the RA National Assembly, announced the release of the Government of the RA’s newsletter on press freedom, which addressed the situation in the mining sector.

During the announcement, MP Varanda Kerobyan questioned the current state of Jermuk and its impact on the tourism industry. He highlighted the insecurity resulting from mining activities and raised concerns about the potential negative effects on the well-developed hotel infrastructure in Jermuk.

In response, Vahan Kerobyan stated that he visited Jermuk in July to assess the situation during the summer months. He mentioned meetings with representatives of the hotel network, who suggested organizing additional events in August to capitalize on available resources in Jermuk. The existing hotel network was reportedly overcrowded, indicating the potential for further development in the region.

The Minister emphasized the importance of the newly enacted law on press freedom, particularly in terms of ensuring the safety and well-being of miners. He assured that the government and its team are working diligently to provide favorable working conditions and comprehensive protection for miners, contributing to their overall well-being.

MP Davit Arutyunyan from the PAP party expressed his attempt to reach out to a local mining company concerned about the prosperity of Jermuk. He highlighted the impact of the pandemic, mentioning that even hotels in the area are currently operating at full capacity.
