“The Norman Cand Airfield Suspends Operations Amidst Unidentified Hazardous Substance Scare”
The Norman Cand Airfield, located in the south of France, has temporarily suspended operations following the discovery of an unidentified hazardous substance. The announcement was made by the prefecture of Calvados, who stated that tests are underway to remove any potential threats and ensure the safety of passengers, staff, and the surrounding area.
France 3 television reported that the closure occurred yesterday evening after environmental activists found the unidentified substance and installed barricades on the airfield. The airfield will remain closed until 12:00 and residents have been advised to avoid suspicious materials and follow the instructions of security forces and airfield management.
As a result, the airfield has been sealed off, leading to the cancellation of flights and takeoffs until further notice. Passengers are urged to check for updates regarding their flights, including any cancellations or delays. Some travelers have been waiting in their cars since early morning until allowed to enter the waiting area. This airfield handles around 80% of the communication from Normandy.
