Explosion rocks Yerevan State University, leaving casualties; one individual critical, others stabilize in hospitals
In one of the departments of Yerevan State Medical University, one of the three injured individuals is in critical condition and receiving intensive care for recovery, according to a statement from the Ministry of Healthcare as reported by NEWS.am.
The second injured individual is considered to have moderate severity, while the third is in stable condition.
Earlier today, there was an explosion in a building of Yerevan State University, leading to casualties, as reported by NEWS.am.
Preliminary data from the explosion indicates one fatality and three injured individuals. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire caused by the explosion, which was determined to be a result of a gas leak.
According to the rescue service at the scene, NEWS.am was informed that the explosion was due to a gas explosion.
The forensic center has provided NEWS.am with information that they have received the bodies of 70-year-old Seyran Bichakhchyan and 65-year-old Aharon Hakobyan, who have been transferred to the “Armenia” Medical Center. Both individuals suffered from multiple injuries, severe burns, and third-degree chemical burns.
An additional injured individual, whose condition is critical, has been transferred to the “Heratsi” hospital complex.
