The Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure of Armenia, in collaboration with the Central Bank of Armenia, the Ministry of Healthcare, and the National Road Safety Commission “National Road Safety Advice,” organized the “National Road Safety Defense of Armenia’s National Army in the Field of Road Safety” program on November 15-16. This program was held in collaboration with the programs of the Automobile Federation of Armenia, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), the Yerevan Municipality, the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), the International Road Assessment Program (iRAP), the Eastern Alliance for Safe and Sustainable Transport (EASST), and other international organizations.
An official from the Ministry of Territorial Administration stated that the program aims to improve the management of necessary measures in Armenia to ensure road safety. This includes implementing real improvements in road safety and the construction of roads and infrastructure, as well as ensuring the safety of vehicles, road users, and pedestrians. The program also aims to reduce the number of accidents and casualties, improve the management of traffic data, create a system for emergency response, enhance the efficiency of road users, and align the National Road Safety Program with educational programs and general practice.
During the conference on November 15, TCE expressed its desire to increase the number of transport vehicles in Armenia and improve traffic flow and safety in all areas. It emphasized the importance of Armenia taking all necessary steps to enhance road safety, including coordinating efforts to protect the lives of road users and reduce the risks of accidents in the field of road safety.
Following the conference, Armenia is urged to implement various measures to improve road safety. These measures include improving infrastructure management and technological capabilities to maintain high standards of road safety, as well as collaborating with JJTC to reduce the risks of accidents and casualties. The conference also featured international experts who shared best practices in the field of road safety and emphasized the importance of implementing JJTC’s recommendations to preserve the lives of road users and reduce accidents.
Additionally, the TCE highlighted that road safety is a priority in the public health sector of Armenia.
