Armenian President Armen Sarkissian and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad Strengthen Bilateral Ties During Meeting in Syria
The President of Armenia, Armen Sarkissian, recently met with the President of Syria, Bashar al-Assad, in Syria. The meeting, held on November 15, highlighted the strong and friendly relations between Armenia and Syria, as well as the importance of the Armenian community in Syria in serving as a bridge between the two countries and peoples.
President Sarkissian expressed gratitude for the invitation and warm reception, emphasizing Armenia’s high regard for the special bonds between the two nations. He also stressed the willingness to further enhance cooperation in various areas such as culture, education, and security.
During the meeting, President Sarkissian presented the “Key of Warmth,” a symbolic gesture from the Syunik region of Armenia, representing the significance of the warm ties between the two countries.
President al-Assad reciprocated the appreciation for the strong ties and acknowledged the role of the Armenian community in contributing to the cultural, economic, and social fabric of Syria. He also expressed Syria’s commitment to supporting Armenia in overcoming any challenges it may face.
The meeting was attended by Yuri Bakhshyan, the Ambassador of Armenia to Syria, and representatives from Armenia’s diplomatic corps.
