Armenia Aims to Boost Defense Capabilities with Advanced Weaponry Acquisitions from France and India

Armenia has a state program dedicated to the development of defense capabilities and military technology. The primary goal of this program is to reduce the country’s dependence on imports for its security needs. During a briefing at the Ministry of Defense on November 15, Seryan Ohanyan, the head of the “Armenia” faction, emphasized the importance of acquiring advanced weaponry from France and India.

Ohanyan stated that the procurement of advanced weaponry and military technology should be done within the framework of the existing system in the country. The objectives of this acquisition are to enhance the combat capabilities of the Armed Forces, improve maneuverability, modernize equipment, elevate training levels, and increase personnel security.

When asked about evaluating the military cooperation between France and India, Ohanyan mentioned that Armenia has implemented multiple programs for the acquisition of weaponry and military technology. These programs have allowed them to import expensive equipment at reasonable prices and establish joint production facilities. Armenia has acquired weaponry not only from former USSR countries but also from European countries and China.

Ohanyan expressed his positive assessment of the steps taken to acquire weaponry from France and India. He emphasized the need for the leadership of the Armed Forces to fully understand the objectives, role, and significance of the acquired weaponry, as well as its compatibility with existing systems. He assured that there would be no concerns about integrating these advanced weapons with Armenia’s combat potential. Furthermore, the acquisition aims to enhance homeland security, radio-electronic warfare capabilities, and other complementary services.

Armenia’s evaluation of the steps taken to acquire weaponry from France and India also considers issues related to environmental protection, radio-electronic warfare, and other services. They expect that work will be carried out to strengthen national security and bolster radio-electronic warfare capabilities. Ohanyan concluded by expressing confidence in the positive outcomes of these acquisitions.
