“US Secretary of Defense Expresses Concerns over Israel’s Aggression Towards Lebanon and Border Disputes”
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin expressed concern to Israeli Defense Minister Yair Golan about Israel’s aggression towards Lebanon and the disputed border, according to Axios citing Israeli and American sources.
Some officials in Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration are reportedly unhappy about Israel’s intention to surpass “Hezbollah” by creating a video in Lebanon that could lead to a wider conflict. Allegedly, Israeli intelligence officials have also mentioned this.
Since the start of the Israel-Lebanon conflict, there have been clashes along the border. “Hezbollah” has carried out air invasions into Israeli territories, prompting Israeli counterattacks, including a recent airstrike in Israel’s capital.
The conflict has resulted in the deaths of approximately ten thousand Israeli residents and civilians, along with several dozen Lebanese residents.
Israel has evacuated almost ten thousand residents and civilians from villages and towns near the border.
Prime Minister Netanyahu has reportedly asked President Biden to label their aggression towards the Lebanese army as terrorism. However, the US has stated that the discussion was impartial and unproductive, and Secretary Austin is said to regret Israel’s military operations.
According to Israeli officials, Secretary Austin has requested clarifications from Defense Minister Golan regarding the aggression towards the Lebanese army and urged them to refrain from violating the ceasefire agreement with Lebanon.
The United Nations is committed to preventing the conflict in Gaza from spreading to Lebanon and prioritizes maintaining stability between Israeli and Lebanese regions.
Israeli officials have stated that the situation in Lebanon has deteriorated due to the publication of military equipment in Galant. They claim that the Lebanese military has taken the Galant address.
The Israeli ambassador has requested that Lebanon provide explanations for these actions and has blamed “Hezbollah” for aggression, warning that they are playing with fire.
The Biden administration deems the ongoing situation between Israel and Lebanon as unwelcome developments and responds accordingly.
