ICJ to Rule on Third Party Intervention in Armenian-Azerbaijani Conflict Dispute Resolution

The International Court of Justice (ICJ) is set to announce a decision on temporary measures concerning third-party intervention in the ongoing dispute resolution process pertaining to the Armenian-Azerbaijani conflict. This highly anticipated decision was revealed through a press release issued by the ICJ on September 28, 2023. Armenia had made the request to the ICJ due to the involvement of both Armenia and Azerbaijan in the dispute, seeking a cessation of all forms of military aggression.

The announcement will take place during an open session at 15:00 at the prestigious Palace of Justice in The Hague, where the President of the Court, Judge Joan Donoghue, will deliver the verdict.

In the lead-up to this momentous decision, it is worth noting that on September 16, 2021, Armenia had officially lodged a request with the ICJ against Azerbaijan. This request highlighted the alleged violations of international humanitarian law linked to the resolution of the long-standing Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

As the world awaits the ICJ’s ruling, NEWS.am will continue to closely monitor and report on the latest developments regarding this crucial international dispute.
