“Clashes Erupt in London as Pro-Palestinian and Pro-Israeli Groups Face Off in Massive Protest”
A large-scale protest took place in London on Saturday, resulting in clashes between pro-Palestinian demonstrators and pro-Israeli groups near the Palestinian embassy, according to reports from Reuters.
The protest, expected to draw hundreds of thousands of people, brought together activists and celebrities supporting the pro-Palestinian movement and criticizing the British government’s role in the regional conflict.
London’s police have declared their intention to use all available resources and force to prevent violence and maintain peace.
“We will utilize all our forces and resources available to us; that will not be allowed,” stated a police spokesperson.
The national rally for Palestine is part of a series of demonstrations taking place in London, aimed at supporting the Palestinian cause and calling for an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza.
Ben Jamal, one of the organizers of the Palestinian Solidarity Campaign (PSC), stated to Reuters that they anticipate over a million attendees. Despite the “extremely challenging situation today,” he remarked that the turnout for the protest has been lively.
During the start of the rally, pro-Palestinian demonstrators chanted slogans such as “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” urging Israel to withdraw from the occupied territories.
The protest also spotlighted the growing number of civilian casualties in the ongoing conflict, with banners conveying the message, “We want our country back.”
In addition, the police have reported the emergence of right-wing groups organizing counter-protests in response to the national rally. This development comes amidst tensions from the ongoing conflict in the Caucasus region, where an unrelated explosion occurred near the Cenotaph during a 24-hour vigil on Monday.
