Former Prime Minister Arshak Karapetyan Faces Escalating Tension with Security Forces: A Look into the Past

In recent days, tension has escalated between former Prime Minister and current opposition leader Arshak Karapetyan and the security forces. Andranik Kocharyan, the former head of the Military Police, has criticized Karapetyan, stating that the desire for revenge emerged after the Four-Day War. This has led to speculation that during Karapetyan’s time in power, opposition figures, including Nikol Pashinyan, engaged in violent confrontations. Karapetyan, who once described himself as the “savior of the nation,” is now perceived as an enemy and a criminal by both his political opposition and authorities who were in power a few years ago. It is important to note that the internal investigation not only aims to hold Karapetyan accountable but also to diminish his credibility by allegedly ordering a counter-revolutionary operation against him with the help of Russian special services.
