“Displaced Persons from Artsakh Eligible for Social Security and Protection, Says Armenian Minister”

The displaced persons from Artsakh, who have been provided with temporary accommodation due to the military situation, have the right to social security and protection under the law if they meet the requirements of the Republic of Armenia’s social assistance program. This information was shared today, November 9, during a government meeting by Narik Mkrtchyan, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of Armenia.

“During this difficult period, they have either received social security or protection, which means that they have the right to receive social security and protection in the Republic of Armenia. To ensure this, the government has made necessary changes in the legislation regarding the rights and obligations of beneficiaries of social security and protection who are in a state of emergency caused by the military situation,” said Minister Mkrtchyan.

He emphasized the importance of displaced persons being registered at an address within the territory of Armenia and having their status unquestioned.

“Individuals can contact the Unified Social Service Centers at number 49 for any complaints. In order to identify their social security entitlement, our compatriots have until October 28, and social security payments will be made starting from October 28,” added Narik Mkrtchyan. He further mentioned that this project would be submitted to the National Assembly after a thorough review.

The minister informed that there are approximately 15,000 displaced persons from Artsakh benefiting from social security.
