“Head of Taxi Driver’s Security Service Calls for Restrictions on Migrant Work in Moscow: Citing Increased Accidents and Crimes”
The head of the taxi driver’s security service, Yevgeny Grek, has called for limiting the work of migrants in taxis in Moscow. In an interview with NSN, he highlighted the issue of a migrant with stolen migration engaging in taxiing and expressed concern over the increase in accidents and crimes related to this situation. Grek believes that by introducing restrictions on the employment of migrants, the demand for taxi services will increase, while simultaneously improving security. He emphasized that by limiting such indicators, lives can be saved and the incidents resulting from these circumstances have already decreased.
According to the expert, transportation by foreign transporters does not function effectively and only benefits illegal operators who favor foreign workers. However, he acknowledged that the introduction of this restriction would require training new drivers to fill the gap. It is worth noting that starting from next year, a restriction on working in taxis will be implemented in the Chechen region. Foreign residents in that area will be provided with free public transportation for municipal, suburban, and interregional travel.
