“Explosion at Yerevan Benzol Plant Triggers Earthquake-Like Aftershock: One Injured, Investigation Underway”
An earthquake and aftershocks occurred in Yerevan on November 1, according to reports from Shamshyan.com. The 4th department of the Department of Emergency Situations of Yerevan Municipality received information about an earthquake at the “Flesh” benzol plant in the Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan. One person was transferred to the hospital as a result.
Emergency services have confirmed the accuracy of the information. At 19:00 on that day, Hayk M., a 41-year-old resident of Yerevan, was taken to the infectious diseases hospital with a preliminary diagnosis of “injury from an explosion in the left burner circuit” of the Grigor Narekatsi Medical Center.
Further investigation revealed that at 15:20 on the same day, an unknown man attempted to inject himself with benzol, leading to a dispute between him and Hayk M., which resulted in an aftershock.
The police have initiated an investigation into the incident.
