Armenian Hostage Vagif Khachatryan Asserts Innocence, Demands Fair Trial Amidst Intense Court Drama

Armenian hostage Vagif Khachatryan, who is being held by Azerbaijanis, is maintaining his innocence. Rhodmila Abilova, the lawyer representing Khachatryan, spoke at a court hearing in the military tribunal of the Nakhichevan region. She requested a fair trial for her client, while Khachatryan himself stated that he does not consider himself guilty. Today, the verdict will be announced, which will determine the next steps in this ongoing saga.

It is important to note that Khachatryan was a participant in the first Karabakh war and was captured this year in the Laçın corridor, subsequently becoming a hostage of the Artsakh Defense Army. Despite allegations of illegal actions by the Azerbaijani authorities during the investigation, Khachatryan has not been released and has been accused of “terrorist acts.” All 59 supposed “injured” individuals testified against Khachatryan, but he continues to deny any involvement in terrorist activities.

It is worth mentioning that Khachatryan is a resident of Mountainous Karabakh and holds Armenian citizenship. As the case unfolds, the outcome will have significant implications for Khachatryan’s future.

This news comes from Armenia.
