“Yerevan Mayor and Transport Minister Discuss Plans for Electric Buses as 171 New Buses Confirmed to Run on Natural Gas”

A total of 171 8.6-meter buses will be acquired, but they will not be electric. However, discussions are currently taking place to introduce electric buses for a portion of the 18-meter buses. Yerevan Mayor Hayk Marutyan revealed this information during today’s regular government session held on November 6th.

Vazgen Harutyunyan, the Transport Minister, also confirmed the Mayor’s statement, stating that the application to purchase the 8.6-meter buses fueled by natural gas has already been submitted to the purchasing department. Harutyunyan explained, “The initial price, which was used for the calculation, has been adjusted. During the initial competition for 150 buses, the quantity was increased to 180, and the price was also adjusted accordingly.”

Furthermore, Harutyunyan provided details on the cost of the buses, stating that each bus will be priced between 38-39 million drams, a decrease from the previous cost of 44 million drams.
