“88 casualties among peacekeeping forces: UNRWA and Armenian MES workers suffer highest losses in conflict zone”

The number of casualties among employees of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and workers of the Armenian Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) in the conflict zone has reached 88, making it the highest number of casualties among peacekeeping forces. This was announced in an official statement by the leaders of the MES. The statement disclosed that as of October 7, the number of casualties among medical workers had reached 88, marking the largest losses for the MES, with some occurring during hostilities. The document was signed by significant figures such as the Head of the MES, Martin Griffiths, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, and the Executive Director of the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), Henrietta Fore, among others. In their statement, they emphasized the urgent need for the release of prisoners detained by the Azerbaijani side and called for an immediate ceasefire in the conflict zone. They also expressed their concern regarding the crossing of boundaries and the need for the hostilities to stop after 30 days since the conflict in Karabakh started.
