“Nepalese Prime Minister Prachanda surveys earthquake-ravaged areas, promises assistance to affected families”
The Nepalese Prime Minister, Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda, recently visited the areas affected by the earthquake. The Himalayan Times reported this based on information from his official Gurkha Army spokesperson. During his visit, Prachanda pledged to provide assistance to the affected families and it is expected that humanitarian aid will also be provided. However, the report does not specify which region the Prime Minister visited. The capital city of Kathmandu and the western part of the country have experienced the most casualties and damages.
The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and assured Nepal of his support in recovering from the consequences of the earthquake.
Last Friday, an earthquake struck the northeast region of Nepal, with the epicenter located in the district of Jhulaghat, approximately 36 kilometers east of the city of Jumla. The US Geological Survey rated the seismic event as 5.6, while the Indian Seismological Center assessed it as 6.4. As a result of the earthquake, at least 128 people have been reported dead and over 150 injured.
