Armenia to Receive 17.9 Million Euros in Financial Aid from the European Union for Judicial Reforms and Education in 2024
In a positive development for Armenia, it has been announced that the European Union will be providing financial aid of approximately 17.9 million euros to the country in 2024. The Minister of Finance, Vahé Hovhannisyan, made this announcement during a public discussion of the government’s budget plan on November 3rd, 2024. This support is expected to be provided through three main channels, benefiting various areas of the Armenian society.
One of the important focus areas for this financial aid is the judicial field. Minister Hovhannisyan highlighted that a similar program was implemented in 2023, which received a funding of 2.7 million euros. He explained that the aim of this support is to promote reforms in the judicial system. In the upcoming year, it is projected that 5.4 million euros will be spent on the second phase of the judicial reform program, with an estimated requirement of around 2.5 million euros.
Another key area where the financial aid will be directed is education. Approximately 10 million euros will be allocated to address educational needs in 2024. This emphasizes the importance of investing in the future of Armenia and enabling a quality education system to enhance the opportunities for the country’s youth.
Overall, the value of this program is estimated to be around 32 million euros, demonstrating the significant commitment of the European Union towards supporting Armenia in various sectors. This financial aid not only showcases the EU’s dedication to fostering positive change but also highlights the close collaboration between Armenia and the European Union in pursuit of shared goals and aspirations for a prosperous future.
