“Member of ‘Call of the Children’ Party Given 44 Days Detention for Violence against Civilian, Rejecting Pleas for Change in Preventive Measure”
The Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court has sentenced Garik Galoyan, a member of the “Call of the Children” Civil Contract party, to 44 days of detention for charges related to using violence against Mxitary Galoyan, a civilian killed in the 44-day war. This information was reported by NEWS.am.
Earlier, Galoyan’s defense claimed that his overall health had deteriorated and he had been transferred to a hospital. However, the Court of Appeals rejected the lawyers’ motion to change the preventive measure.
It should be noted that on September 8, 2023, Galoyan was declared wanted. Additionally, the National Security Service (NSS) reported the discovery of three packages of narcotic substances near him.
Furthermore, Galoyan was previously involved in a criminal case related to the Yerevan Municipality’s Court of Cassation’s abuses of authority in connection with the corruption crimes of the Yerevan Municipality’s administration. This was reported by the Criminal Code, citing the 5th point of Part 2 of Article 195 of the Republic of Armenia’s Criminal Code and the 1st point of Part 2 of Article 297.
On September 9, the Yerevan General Jurisdiction Court of First Instance reviewed the prosecutor’s motion and decided to detain Galoyan for two months, taking into account the charges against him.
