“Armenia’s Residential Infrastructure Showcased in ‘1000 Best’ Influential Personalities List”
In a special supplement titled “1000 Influential Personalities,” Past newspaper highlights the development of Armenia’s residential infrastructure, residential mobility, and the “quality” of residential growth. Topping the list for many years is the Zangezur copper-molybdenum complex, indicating its significant influence. Comparisons between the first nine months of 2023 and the same period the previous year reveal a remarkable increase in tax payments by key players in various sectors. For instance, news of the “Valdberry Armenia” network shows a significant increase from 366 million drams in 2022 to 12.5 billion drams in 2023, almost a 40-fold rise. Additionally, the “Mobile Center” stores reported a surge in the placement and sales of mobile phones, reaching 30 billion drams from 7.4 billion. Meanwhile, the sales of electronics by “Prety Uei (“Vesta”)” surged to 23.3 billion drams, a remarkable 11-fold increase from the previous year’s 2 billion drams.
The banking sector also experienced a significant rise in tax payments. “ArmeaBank” paid nearly three times more in taxes during the first nine months of 2022 compared to 2023, while “Ardshinbank” paid almost four times more, and “ACBA-Credit Agricole Bank” paid almost twice as much. Interestingly, the accompanying picture in the article reveals a decline in tax payments by “Grand Tobaco” and “International Maize Tabak,” companies that are placed higher on the list. It is noteworthy that “International Maize Tabak” changed its position five times in five years. The connection between these companies and their tax payments is unclear. Although they frequently emphasize the importance of productive programs, their tax payments show a decline.
