“Major Construction Progresses in Yerevan and Surrounding Areas Under Sun-Heat Program: Legal Hurdles Being Overcome, Minister Announces”

In the Sun-Heat program, we have made significant progress in the construction phase of certain sections. During a meeting with journalists, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, Suren Papikyan, shared that construction and infrastructure work in Yerevan and the surrounding areas have been ongoing for many years. Although there have been legal obstacles in some parts of Yerevan that have hindered or delayed the work, the issues are being resolved. Currently, the construction phase in the Talin section of Ashtarak is underway. It is important to highlight that the road being replaced has faced numerous challenges, including frequent accidents and inconvenience for traffic. Two construction companies have been assigned to complete the project within 18 months.

The majority of the Gyumri-Lanjik section will be completed by the end of this year, with only minor works or road improvements remaining. If circumstances allow, the asphalt covering will be fully completed as well. Furthermore, we have recently begun work on the first section of the Harav-Agarak route. Through a tender process, we have selected a company to carry out the construction work. Additionally, construction activities will continue in 2024.

Suren Papikyan announced these updates during a meeting with journalists at the RA Government on October 31. The progress made in the Sun-Heat program is a positive development for the region, as it addresses longstanding issues and aims to improve infrastructure and road safety. With the resolution of legal obstacles and the commitment of two construction companies, we can expect significant advancements in the near future. The completion of the Gyumri-Lanjik section and the initiation of work on the Harav-Agarak route demonstrate the program’s dedication to improving transportation in the area. As we move forward, it is crucial to closely monitor the progress and ensure that all construction activities are carried out efficiently and within the set deadlines. By doing so, we can achieve the goal of enhanced infrastructure, smoother traffic flow, and safer roads for both residents and visitors of Yerevan and its surrounding areas.
